MANTA - TUNA CAPITAL

This is a very interesting area, the ships are built using hand tools right on the beach. I wonder if Nephi´s ship looked anything like these.

Statue on the beach showing the livelihood of the area.

Here is where Star Kist is made.

Unloading tuna.

Statue proclaiming Manta the Tuna Capitol!

Taking home a small fish for dinner.

While we were in Manta we saw many fishing vessels unloading fish. Apparantly Manta Ecuador is the self proclaimed Tuna (atun) capitol of the world. It is at least the tuna capitol of Ecuador. These are hugh fish and there were so many of them. I have read, however, that the fish are getting smaller and the ships have to go farther out to sea to find them.
